"Shorty"

Dominic Colestro Jr. was taken out of action because his two brothers, Frank and Anthony, were killed in action. Known by the nickname "Shorty," Colestro served with 2nd Platoon, F Company until near the end of September 1944 when the 331st was in Luxembourg. According to Larry Dalton, Colestro was the platoon runner. Dominic, who also went by the nickname "Mim," was from Bradford, PA. He was a miltary man, and also served in the Korean War and in Vietnam. He passed away in 1984. According to family historian Dave Rathfon, Mim was a great guy--small in size and large in heart.
